History
The history of the birth of the Indonesian Language and Literature Department coincided with the establishment of the Udayana Faculty of Letters, namely on September 29, 1958 based on an agreement between the foundations of the Nusa Tenggara Faculties with the approval of the Minister of PP and K (Book of Memories of Pancawindu Anniversary & BKFS XVII, 1998: iv).
The purpose of establishing the Udayana Faculty of Letters is to produce cadres of professional graduates to assist the administration of government in the Bali area in addition to increasing efforts to foster, develop and preserve Balinese culture. Ardhana). There were several activities carried out at the beginning of the establishment of the Faculty of Letters, namely preparing the establishment of majors in accordance with the cultural potential of the Bali region. Therefore, the Department of Archaeological and Cultural History of Indonesia was born and the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature was born. The reason for the establishment of the Indonesian Language and Literature Department is to develop Indonesian Language and Literature, besides that the teaching staff is already available.
