FIELD RESEARCH METHODOLOGY TRAINING FOR LECTURERS AND STUDENTS HELD IN CANDIKUNING VILLAGE
Baturiti, April 24–25, 2026 — The Indonesian Literature Study Program of Udayana University organized a Field Research Methodology Training for Lecturers and Students in Candikuning Village from Friday to Saturday (April 24–25, 2026). The activity was attended by fourth-semester students as part of strengthening their methodological competence in linguistic and literary research.
This training aimed to equip students with practical skills in conducting field research, including data collection techniques, observation, interviews, and systematic documentation of linguistic and literary data. In addition, the program served as an implementation of experiential learning, allowing students to interact directly with the community as a source of data.
On the first day, students were directly deployed to the field to seek and collect linguistic and literary data from the local community. This activity trained students’ sensitivity in identifying language phenomena as well as exploring the potential of oral literature within the community.
In the evening, students were asked to present their preliminary findings. During this session, they presented the data they had collected, the challenges encountered in the field, and the strategies they employed during the data collection process. The lecturers then provided feedback, guidance, and evaluation to help refine the students’ research techniques.
On the second day, students who felt that their data were still insufficient or not yet optimal were given the opportunity to return to the field to complete their research data. This activity emphasized the importance of accuracy and completeness of data in scientific research.
This training involved several lecturers from the Indonesian Literature Study Program, namely I Gusti Ayu Agung Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum., Eirenne Pridari Sinsya Dewi, S.S., M.Ed., Jalu Norva Illa Putra, S.S., M.A., I Putu Ari Putra Maulana, S.S., M.A., Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Weda Kusuma, M.S., Prof. Dr. I Wayan Pastika, M.S., Prof. Dr. Drs. I Ketut Sudewa, M.Hum., Dra. Pt. N. Widarsini, M.Hum., Prof. Dr. Dra. Ni Made Dhanawaty, M.S., Ida Bagus Gede Dharma Putra, S.S., M.A., Ni Komang Diah Restu Swari, S.Pd., M.A., Isnan Waluyo, M.A., and I Gusti Ngurah Mayun Susandhika, S.S., M.Hum.
The activity concluded in the afternoon with a closing session in the form of a group photo involving all participants and supervising lecturers. The group then continued their journey back to the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University.
Through this activity, students are expected to gain a more comprehensive understanding of field research methodology and to be able to apply the theories they have learned into real practice within the community. Furthermore, this program also strengthens students’ readiness to conduct independent scientific research in the future.
