Indonesian Literature Student Association Holds Literature Week Themed “Indonesian Literature, What Do You Want to Be?” University

The Indonesian Literature Student Association, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Udayana University held a National Seminar on Literature Week held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 online through zoom meeting.

Activities that carry the theme "Indonesian Literature, What Do You Want to Be?"  This was opened by the Coordinator of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Agung Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum.

The seminar was attended by eighty participants, consisting of students and lecturers. They not only come from Unud but also outside Unud and even from outside Bali, such as UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, Indraprasta PGRI University, and SMAN 1 Tanggerang.

Welcome

In the opening remarks, Koordinator Program Stuin Indonesian Literature Dr. I Gusti Ayu Agung Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum.  ,  welcome and  congratulate the implementation of the National Webinar with the topic "Indonesian Literature Wants to Be What?  "

"Topik work after the study of Indonesian Literature is interesting to be discussed by Indonesian Literature students, alumni, stakeholders, and lecturers in the Faculty of Cultural Sciences in general, and program stuin Indonesian Literature in particular. Is the knowledge that has been received by students sufficient? "he said.

Korprodi also conveyed various questions about it, such as: isit a weakness faced by the Indonesian Literature study program? How to overcome the pessimism that often plagues Indonesian Sastra students?  Thereare many more questions that may arise from the discussion in this webinar.

On the other hand, being part of the Fib Unud Indonesian Literature Study Program is a pride. Sasindo's study program is here to answer the challenges of the need for skilled personnel in the fields of language, literature, and culture. By mastering various theories and practices in the field of linguistics and literature as described in the curriculum, it will be produced that graduates can compete globally. This is in line with the vision of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences and Udayana University, namely "as a center for the development of humanities sciences, and able to produce graduates who are capable, professional, and have high competence to compete in the global era, but not uprooted from Bali's cultural roots. "

At the end of the speech, Korprodi gave pearls to the participants who attended this National Webinar event, namely May the New Light Shine Gold.

Three Speakers

The seminar lasted for four hours, featuring three speakers, namely Dr. Dra. Maria Matildis Banda, M.S., lecturer of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, who presented a material entitled "Lectures in the Indonesian Literature Study Program Want to Be What?".

Dr. I Made Sujaya, S.S., M.Hum., a lecturer at PGRI Mahadewa University  Indonesia, presented no less interesting material, namely "Indonesian Literature: (Merdeka) Want to Be Anything (Saja)".

Kedung Darma Romansha, actor or literati, presented material entitled "Pascareality, Indonesian Literature Market Plan." 

As the guide of the seminar is Sahfitri Br Sembiring, an active student of the Indonesian Literature Study Program.

Maria Maltidis Banda completed her Doctorate in Cultural Studies in 2015.  In addition to being a lecturer, he is also a writer.  He has released many works, including: "Sakura Pendant Broken", "On the Happy Garden", Letters From Dili", and many more.

His record of achievement is also no less numerous as, winning awards in writing short story literature works "Home", "In Bening Mata Mama", "Women of My Love", and "Ivory Bamboo shoots". The award for the story continued by Femina Jakarta Magazine, namely "Pada Taman Bahagia" as the third winner, "Sakura Patah Pendant" as the third winner, and "Doben" as the first winner.

Linguists

According to Dr.  Maria Matildis Banda s arjana Indonesian literature can be a linguist, teacher Indonesian for Indonesians or foreigners, researcher in the field of Indonesian Language and Literature, journalist and author manuscripts, publisher editors and various mass media, authors of public books, biographies, and other forms of creative writing. In between delivering the material, Dr. Maria gave a quote "The future is in your hands.  Don't ask me what the Indonesian Literature Study Program gave me, but ask what I have given to the Indonesian Literature Study Program."

Become Anything

Dr. I Made Sujaya, S.S., M.Hum.  Explaining about Indonesian Literature in Indonesia which is quiet enthusiasts, not the first choice, difficult to get a prestigious job, not exploring a bright future, learning something in vain, Delusional, and unrelated to the real world.  He wrote in his material, Indonesian Literature students must free themselves to become free human beings who are free from the shackles of stigma "Indonesian Literature: What Do You Want to Be? "

Instead, according to Dr.  Sujaya, students must be able to reverse the perspective: "Indonesian Literature: Want to Be Anything You Can! "In the midst of the buzzing roar of the digital age, when there is a "content is king" adagium of language skills; listening, speaking, reading, writing which is the main competency of Indonesian Literature graduates becomes a soft skill that is needed.  Language and literature science continues to grow, opportunities for Indonesian literature graduates are also never lost.
