Cakrawala 2025 Theater Successfully Captivated Audiences in Its Airing Performance of "Janger Merah"

Denpasar, 27 September 2025 – Teater Cakrawala of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, successfully held its annual theatrical performance entitled “Cakrawala Mengudara 2025”, carrying the theme “Samsara: Blending Emotions, Weaving Hope.” This event is a regular agenda consistently organized as a platform for artistic expression and creative actualization for students of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University. The performance was conducted in a lively atmosphere and received a positive response from the audience.

“Cakrawala Mengudara 2025” is one of the most anticipated art events among students of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences each year. Beyond serving as a medium for artistic expression, the event also represents the faculty’s efforts to strengthen the existence and sustainability of theatrical arts within the academic environment. Through this annual performance, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences contributes to enriching campus cultural activities that support Udayana University’s reputation as a leading institution in the fields of arts and humanities.

In her committee report, the Chairperson, Ni Putu Kika Diah Stefhani Dewi, emphasized that the performance was the result of collective student efforts to present a high-quality theatrical production while maintaining Teater Cakrawala’s annual tradition. Furthermore, the event was expected to serve as a platform for developing creativity, artistic expression, and strengthening the identity of performing arts within the campus. Through the production process, students gained practical learning experiences in performance management, artistic production, and teamwork, in line with the vision of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, to develop student potential in the fields of culture and performing arts.

The next address was delivered by the President of Teater Cakrawala, Syifa Alif Kaesarin, who briefly introduced Teater Cakrawala as a student art community under the auspices of the Indonesian Literature Study Program and the Indonesian Literature Student Association. In her remarks, she reaffirmed Teater Cakrawala’s commitment to nurturing a new generation actively engaged in the world of theatre. The presence of Teater Cakrawala is expected to provide a professional, inspirational, and sustainable learning space for students of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University who are interested in theatre and literary arts.

The event was officially opened by the Advisor of Teater Cakrawala, Jalu Norva Illa Putra, S.S., M.A. In his speech, he expressed his highest appreciation to the organizing committee and production team for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the success of the annual performance. He also expressed hope that “Cakrawala Mengudara” would continue to be held consistently as a valuable learning platform for students. The support from the academic advisor reflects a positive synergy between faculty members and students in developing arts- and culture-based activities within the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University.

Following the opening session, the main performance entitled “Janger Merah”, written by Ibed S. Yuga and directed by Bestari, was staged with strong emotional depth by nine performers. The play captivated the audience through its solid narrative structure, expressive acting, and well-crafted artistic elements. The strong Balinese cultural nuances became a defining feature of the performance, reinforcing its relevance to the preservation of local culture. The enthusiastic attendance of hundreds of spectators demonstrated that campus theatre continues to hold a significant place in public appreciation.

After the performance, the event continued with a discussion session and the sharing of impressions and feedback. During this session, the director explained the various challenges encountered during the preparation process, which were ultimately overcome through teamwork and support from multiple parties. Audience members also conveyed positive impressions regarding character portrayal, actors’ expressions, dialogue articulation, and artistic presentation. This session served as a reflective and evaluative space for the performers and production team to further improve the quality of future theatrical works.

Through the successful implementation of Cakrawala Mengudara 2025, Teater Cakrawala reaffirmed its consistency as a creative platform for students of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University in presenting theatrical works that are not only aesthetically valuable but also rich in meaning, moral messages, and social reflection.
