BIPA Program at FIB UNUD Hosts Cultural Visit from Kanto International High School, Japan

On Monday, August 5, 2024, the Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) Program at the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Udayana University (FIB UNUD), held the opening ceremony for a Cultural Visit from Kanto International High School, Japan. The event took place at the Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra, FIB UNUD. This visit was part of the collaboration between the BIPA Program and the Indonesian Literature Program at FIB UNUD, serving as a platform to promote the Faculty of Cultural Studies to international partners.

The event was attended by 13 students and 2 accompanying teachers from Kanto International High School, totaling 15 participants. The cultural program will span three weeks, featuring 21 classroom sessions and five field trips designed to provide hands-on experience with the Indonesian language and culture.

The ceremony began with a report by the Coordinator of the BIPA Program, Prof. Dr. Drs. I Nyoman Suparwa, M.Hum., who warmly welcomed the group from Kanto International High School. He expressed his hope that this program would inspire students to pursue further studies in the Indonesian Literature Program at FIB UNUD.

This was followed by an introduction from Yumiko Horas, a representative of Kanto International High School, who shared a brief history and profile of the school. She also introduced the 13 participating students and conveyed her belief that this program would enrich their understanding of both Japanese and Indonesian cultures, providing valuable experiences.

Next, the Vice Dean I of FIB UNUD, Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum., delivered his remarks. He thanked Kanto International High School for their partnership and expressed his hope that the students would gain a deeper understanding of Indonesian language and culture. Dr. Oeinada also wished for the program to offer meaningful relationships and memorable experiences for the participants while strengthening the collaboration between the BIPA Program at FIB UNUD and Kanto International High School.
