I think the Indonesian Literature study program is still related to the program study in us, even though the program study in us there is education, language, and Literature.  Public Lectures

Dr. Dra. Maria Matildis Banda, M.S. and Safitri Br. Sembiring

Speakers and Moderators of Public Lectures.

In addition to the signing of the cooperation, the event continued with a general lecture delivered by Dr. Dra.  Maria Matildis Banda, M.S., lecturer of Program Study in Sastra Indonesia, Udayana University. This public lecture was moderated by Safitri Br. Sembiring, a student of Indonesian Literature batch 20 21.

The theme brought to this public lecture was "Literary Works from Heart to Pen" As for the material that Mrs. Maria delivered about writing that cannot be separated from the environment. He said there are many reasons to write, one of which is to leave a mark of thoughts and feelings    to be read again, storing what is in the mind and feelings.

In addition, Mrs. Maria said the works she wrote all came from her surroundings.  For example, in his novels such as Pada Taman Bahagia (2000), the source of his ideas comes from his hometown   Flores.  The novel Bougainvillea in the Middle of the Reef (2001) tells the story of buying and selling family land, regional land that causes problems. The novel Surat-Surat Dari Dili (2005), set against the backdrop of civil war, integration and independence options, psychology of hereditary colonized nations, different political choices, love and family. Doben's novel (2016), Wijaya Kusuma from Room Number Three (2015) about patriarchal culture, in a family must be born male, Suara Samudra (2017) about whale   trapping which is a tradition in Lamalera, Flores, NTT.

There is a touching sentence that Mrs. Maria said at this public lecture.  He said "the thought must be successfully used as a pen word, although perhaps in the process many sheets are wasted, because with words the work can be meaningful. Don't make memories pass, make our memories something."
