PEWARA: RETURNING THE HORIZON TAETER

    Saturday, September 2, 2023, Cakrawala Theater of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University held a performance entitled Pagelaran Cakrawala Air (PEWARA), with the theme "Punarbhawa Damar Langit: Starting from crawling again". This event was held at Geoks Art Space, Gianyar, Bali.

    The performance uses a play script by Putu Wijaya entitled "When the Night Becomes Night". This performance is in order to revive the Cakrawala Theater work program. The performance, which was directed by Mr. Jalu Norva Illa Putra, S.S., M.A., raised another side that is rarely exposed in several versions entitled When the night gets dark. When confronted with the story "When the Night Gets Night" most people will always remember Gusti Biang, a widow who was very proud of her royal blood. Even though it is far from that, there are many values that are actually better to promote.

    The performance opened up an extensive space for exploration and it is this opportunity that the Cakrawala Theater is trying to explore under the leadership of Kadek Chintiya Ayu Bestari. Even though there are only four characters, this performance can bring the audience into the atmosphere, because the players can properly animate the characters of each character. Stories about the hypocrisy and arrogance of nobles could happen anywhere and at any time.

    The performance put on by the Cakrawala Theater was considered a success. The number of viewers and their appreciation were beyond expectations. Cakrawala Theater has succeeded in showing its class. Three months of preparation for the performance was not in vain. Theater Cakrawala succeeded in exploring Gusti Biyang's story and presenting a new perspective. The climax is the story of the reverse flow of the characters Wayan and Gusti Biyang which is successfully presented strongly. This event was also attended by lecturers, alumni, and students of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University.
