Lecturer of the Indonesian Literature Study Program as a Guest Lecturer in Intensive Lecture at Tokyo Hosei University

Indonesian Literature study program lecturer, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman DarmaPutra, M. Litt. was invited as a guest lecturer at Hosei University, Tokyo, Japan. The invitation was delivered directly byDean of Graduate School Politics, Hosei University, Prof. Toru Sakane Ph.D. This activity lasts for one week, from 30 January to 6 February 2023. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Darma Putra M.Litt had the opportunity to give lectures with materialInternational Tourism and Cultural Policies in Corona Time: Consideration from Indonesia, ASEAN, UN Organization, and G20. This lecture program is designed in 14 meetings or the equivalent of one semester. During 14 meetings, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Darma Putra M.Litt discussed matters such as global tourism policies, the role of the UN WTO, experiences of various countries in dealing with covid, cultural heritage,dark tourism including terrorism, and tourism and cultural policies from the G20 meeting in Bali, last November 2022.







Lectures are held graduate School Building, Hosei University, Tokyo. Lecture participants in this activity came from undergraduate and postgraduate level students. A total of 7 students attended. The first meeting was filled with introductions and syllabus explanations and the last was filled with material conclusions and evaluations. Just like in Indonesia, each meeting lasts 100 minutes face to face.


Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Darma Putra M.Litt. added that in lectures that take place in English, students are quite active, especially the four master students. He added that “teaching is enjoyable if students are active in asking questions and conveying various views during class and during breaks”. Japanese students who are known to be quiet in class actually have a spirit of discussion, thus making lectures warm and dialogic, added Prof. Dharma Putra.


The last meeting was filled with conclusions from the whole material and evaluation. Evaluation is done by giving questions. Students are asked to reflect on the five questions given. Various kinds of arguments were presented by students in answering the questions given and written in English. Regarding the assessment, Prof. Toru Sakane, Ph.D, and Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Darma Putra M.Litt jointly check the answers from students, then determines a shared value.
