Last Day of Public Practitioner Speaking
The Indonesian Literature Study Program at Udayana University again held a second-day practitioner lecture held on Friday 19/05/23 in Room 5, Goris Building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences. This lecture is still on the same topic as the previous meeting, Glossophobia but more specifically on how to overcome glossophobia.
On this occasion, Mr. Paul Suardi said "Public speaking can move the heart, mind, and action. If the three things are met, a public speaker manages to move someone ". To make it easier to move a public speaker needs mind mapping to facilitate the direction of goals to be achieved. Do not let when speaking in public do not know what is being said so that it can't speak. The presence of glossophobia one of the causes is because they do not know what will be talked about.
Overcoming Glossophobia is certainly not easy but by continuously learning we can overcome the faithfulness of speaking in public. "Knowledge will come when learning," said Mr. Paul. The message he conveyed to students "Don't use the principle of water in life because the water flows to a lower place. Use the principle a little longer into a hill ".
At the end of this meeting, there was an interesting question from one of the students "When speaking in public is it allowed to manipulate words (lying)?". Pak Paul also gave a response "When he was a stage speaker was the world of theatrical, faced with only from one side. When becoming a lecturer, for example, when in the class, it is in accordance with the lecturer in general who gives knowledge to their students after the class ends so whatever is up to them. The point is to be serious good and professional not manipulate bad things. Play the role do not be fond of people ".
In this session, Mr. Paul also gave a smile technique 127. The meaning of smile 127 itself is a smile that has strong roots from the deepest heart and has a pole (sturdy stem) that is 2 cm wide to the right and 2 cm to the left with a right duration of 7 seconds. The smile will produce positive energy. Smile with a smile 127.
The opportunity to meet and share experiences with a reliable public speaker like Mr. Paul is a valuable opportunity. "During attending Public Speaking practitioners with Mr. Paul. Materials especially regarding glossophobia are very easy to understand even though nature is quite relaxed. His interaction with the students made me really feel that he was a good speaker and suitable as an example for everyone. The materials and experiences provided are quite easy to apply so that they can increase student public speaking and reduce the fear of speaking in public, "Ni Putu Cindy said when asked about the impression and message when attending public speaking practitioners.
