International Cooperation: Indonesian Literature and Japanese Literature Study Program FIB Unud and Tilburg University Holds Guest Lectures
The Indonesian Literature and Japanese Literature programs at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University (FIB Unud), held a guest lecture by inviting a researcher from Tilburg University, Netherlands, as the speaker. The guest lecture took place on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the Soekarno Room, FIB Unud, Jalan Pulau Nias Number 13 Denpasar, and was attended by lecturers and students from the Indonesian Literature and Japanese Literature programs at FIB Unud.
This guest lecture event was a form of collaboration between the Indonesian Literature and Japanese Literature programs at FIB Unud and the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences, Tilburg University, Netherlands. Both programs at FIB Unud are involved in research collaboration with Tilburg University on a project titled Emergence of Language in Social Interaction (ELISA), which has been ongoing since 2020.
This year, in addition to conducting research, both programs and Tilburg University agreed to hold a guest lecture to provide students with knowledge about field research, particularly in sign language research.
In the guest lecture, two speakers delivered lectures to the students. The first speaker was Ni Putu Luhur Wedayanti, S.S., M.Hum., who presented material titled Contextual Metaphors in Kolok Words. Luhur Wedayanti, M.Hum., is a lecturer from the Japanese Literature program at FIB Unud.
The other speaker was Dr. Hannah Lutzenberger, a researcher from Tilburg University, Netherlands. In her presentation, Dr. Hannah explained lexical variations in the deaf-mute community in Bengkala Village, Singaraja. The material she presented is related to her research in the ELISA project.
The presentations from both speakers successfully sparked the curiosity of lecturers and students from the Japanese Literature and Indonesian Literature programs about the use of sign language in Bengkala Village, Singaraja.
At the end of the lecture, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Literature Program at FIB Unud, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Agung Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum., presented certificates of appreciation to both speakers as a token of gratitude for the material they shared with the students.
