Andalas
University Drama Performances
Friday, December0,
9, 2022, Credit Earning students from Andalas University performedin
the Prijono room, Faculty of Humanities,
Udayana University. This performance is
a form of appreciation for the short stories "Shadows" by A.A Navis
and "Tawa Gadis Padang Sampah"
In the form
of a performing art, the ideas in the two short stories are converted into a short theater
(Drama) form. As a mirror of the performing arts society
it carries the important value that both short stories are trying to convey.
The staging starts at 13.00 WITA until
it is over. Both short stories were staged by two groups. This false world
by the first group conveys how higher-ups, officials or rulers
attach importance to their own interests over the interests of the people, as a form of adaptation of the short
story Shadows by A.A Navis. While The Laughter of The Trash Girl by group two
was staged with a comedic concept, the audience was also shocked to watch the performance, especially
seeing the action of the Korep who often uttered his Minang language.
"This
staging is actually part or achievement of the course "Literary
appreciation" said Zikri, one of the performers in the play. " The
course, which was taught by Sri's mother,
requiresus students to appreciate the two short stories by converting
them into a theatrical form," he continued.
The event was attended by at least 100 people including the Ko of the Department of Sastra Indonesia Faculty
of Humanities, Udayana University, I Gusti Agung Ayu Mas Triadnyani and mother Sri Jumadiah as the lecturer of literary appreciation courses
and other lecturers such as Mr. Jalu and Mr. Mayun Susandhika.
In the
series of events, not only filled with theatrical performances, Muhammad Fadli,
one of the credit Earning students, also recited a poem with a Minangkabau cultural background at the end of the event.
Fadli recited a poem entitled "I'm
with Sampelong" by Esha Tegar Putra.
This poem holds a message about
a typical Minangkabau musical instrument called Sampelong which is
said to have a magical aura. Not only Fadli, students from Unand and Unud were
then provoked to read poetry at this event, Fani Yudistira, Uswah and Given who
are students of the Sastra Indonesia study program, Udayana University also
read poems at this event. Not to forget Yesa, a student of the English Sastra Study Program who also participated in
Credit Earnings did not want to be outdone and participated in reading, her
poems.
The event then ended with the
delivery of messages and impressions by a representative of this exchange student. (Andalas University Fadli)
