Flashback of Research Practices in Pupuan Village
(5-6/07/23) The Indonesian Literature Study Program held a practical research exercise. Located in Pupuan Village, Tabanan Regency. This activity must be attended by students of Indonesian literature class 2021, as a field practice value. There were 45 students who attended this activity and were accompanied by five lecturers, namely Dr. Drs. I Ketut Sudewa, M.Hum. Dr. Drs. I Made Madia, M. Hum. Dr. Ni Made Dhanawaty, M.S. Jalu Norva Illa Putra, S.S., M.A. and I Gusti Ngurah Mayun Susandhika, S.S., M.Hum.
This field research was carried out for two days. On the first day, students conduct research from 16.00 WITA to 18.00 WITA. Students who have not completed interviews with the community are allowed to continue their research on the second day, from 07.00 to 09.00 WITA.
Greeting
The Secretary of Pupuan Village gave the first speech, Mr. I Gede Eri Surianto as the opening act.
He said he was ready to help students in the research process. He also expressed his gratitude for choosing Pupuan Village as the research location and hoped that the village would become better known. "So whatever activities you do, we are ready to help fully." Said Mr. I Gede Eri Surianto.

“Secondly, before Puniki Pole also felt gratitude, Pupuan Village was chosen as the research location. So before Puniki, Niki will be for the second time in 2023. Previously, we also collaborated with Udayana University on March 15 related to the development of Pupuan Village. Our village is our second place, we are very grateful so that in the future we hope that our village will be better known," he continued.
Village Introduction
At the opening ceremony, the village secretary, Mr. I Gede Eri Surianto, gave a brief introduction about Pupuan Village.
Pupuan Village is located in the Pupuan sub-district, Tabanan Regency, Bali Province. This village is one of the fourteen villages in Pupuan. Pupuan Village is directly bordered by neighboring villages, to the North are Bantiran Village and Pinasari Village, to the East, are Pujungan Village, to the South are Sai Village, and to the West are Sai and Bantiran Villages. The area of Pupuan Village is 525 ha, consisting of 63 ha of paddy fields, 43 ha of gardens, 131 ha of settlements, and schools, offices, markets, etc. 283 ha.
There are five hamlets in Pupuan Village, namely Banjar Pupuan, Kubu, Kayupuring, Kayupadi, and Semoja. Each Banjar has a different chief executive. Banjar Pupuan was headed by I Komang Sudana, Banjar Kubu by I Nyoman Santika Yasa, Banjar Kayupuring by I Gede Darmana, Banjar Kayupadi by I Putu Gunawan, and Banjar Semoja by I Wayan Andi Puspa A.
The total population is 3181 people, consisting of 1597 men and 1584 women. The religions adopted by the residents of Pupuan Village are very diverse, namely Hinduism as the majority religion, Islam, Christianity, Confucianism, and Buddhism. This village also has complete places of worship, starting from temples, mosques, churches, and pagodas. The tribes in this village are Balinese, Javanese, Madurese, and Chinese. In addition, the temperature in Pupuan Village is relatively low, namely 25°. The livelihoods of the residents are farming and trading.

As for the messages and impressions from Indonesian Literature batch 21 students, concentration on literature, namely Revina Sihombing. He expressed his admiration for the village.
“Last July 5th, I went to Pupuan village for the first time for research training. I was amazed by the scenery along the way. The air is fresh and the produce is clean, then the people in Pupuan village are very friendly and kind. Pupuan Village is very pretty, beautiful, and clean. Many different cultures, ethnicities, religions, and traditions can be found in Pupuan." Revina wrote in the interview.
"For friends who have never been to Pupuan village, I suggest visiting at least once. There are many interesting places in Pupuan village. I felt calm and comfortable staying two days in Pupuan village. If there is time, I will come back to visit again.” he continued.
As for the message from Ni Luh Putu Ayu Tirta Gayatri, an Indonesian literature student with a concentration in linguistics. Gayatri expressed her joy, she did not feel tired while searching for data because Pupuan Village had beautiful views.
"Research in Pupuan yesterday was very enjoyable even though it was full of chaos. Even though I was a bit surprised because at 9 pm the streets were very quiet, and no residents were active anymore. The residents in Pupuan are also very kind because they want to contribute to our data search. This research did not feel tiring at all because while searching for data, I saw very beautiful scenery, from hills to plants that I had never seen before. There are many moments that are immortalized, as the saying goes “diving while drinking water”. Searching for data while enjoying the scenery.” Say, Gayatri.
"My hope is that next year research on language and literature like this can be carried out again to provide information to other people, especially the younger generation, that Indonesia, especially Bali, is full of diversity of languages and literature that we may have never heard of before." he continued.

The rain became one of the obstacles that occurred during the research. Even though it was raining, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the students to do research. The students also hoped that their arrival at Pupuan Village would be of benefit to the village in order to introduce Pupuan Village to the general public.
